The collared lizard is a small lizard which gets its name from two distinctive bands (or collars) on its neck. The background colour is blue, green, brown, olive or yellow (the colour can vary alot as there are many sub species). Youngsters of this species are banded although these fade with age and are only barely visable in some mature specimens.
Arkansas, Missouri to Utah and Arizona.
Upto 12inches.
8-10 years.
3x1x1ft for one specimen.
Dry savannah with rocks for basking and hiding.
Collared lizards should be fed well gut-loaded insects dusted once weekly with the appropriate vitamin/calcium powders.
